1. Style. You want to be sure you pick a chair that is in keeping with the style of the room that your putting the chair in. 3. Number of stools. The next thing to think about is how many stools you're going to buy. Of course you'll be thinking about how many people you need to seat, but one thing you really must consider is the seating area. You don't want to try to cram too many stools together or it will be uncomfortable. So, you need to measure the length of your countertop, bar top or tabletop. Barstools should be spaced about 25 to 30 inches measuring from the middle of one seat to the next, so divide the measurement that you got from your tabletop by 28 and you'll know how many barstools you need to purchase.
4. Upholstery. Once you've picked out the style of stool chair you like, you'll have another decision to make and that is the upholstery. If you're lucky, you might have picked a chair that doesn't need upholstery and that'll be one less thing you have to think about! But if it does, you'll be presented with a range of swatches from which you'll need to pick the upholstery. Here you want to remember the colors and patterns you have in the room you to put the chairs and and be sure you pick an upholstery that will match.
5. Maintenance. When choosing your barstools, you want to consider how much maintenance you going to have to put into keeping them into top shape. While a lot of stools really don't require any maintenance ones that are posted in leather, for example, will need periodic cleaning and care to the leather.
